Center for Global Justice members have been invited to join the Organic Consumer’s Association (OCA) delegation to the “alternative climate summit” at the UN Climate Change conference in Cancun November 29 to December 10.
From Copenhagen to Cochabamba to Cancun
Join the OCA/VO at the historic COP16 Climate Conference
In 1999 and 2003, the OCA helped organize protests and teach-ins against the World Trade Organization in Seattle and Cancun. The "Battle of Seattle", as it came to be known, and subsequent mobilizations were the coming of age of the global grassroots. Now you have the opportunity to join OCA Director Ronnie Cummins and other OCA staff on an escorted delegation to the historic teach-ins and rallies for climate justice and organic agriculture at COP 16 in Cancun, Mexico.
Over 100,000 concerned citizens from North and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia are expected to converge on Cancun, including leading farm, food, fair trade, climate justice, and anti-GE activists. They'll attend a wide range of workshops, forums, and cultural events. Following up on the theme of the World Social Forum in Porto Alegre, Brazil, "Another World is Possible," the emphasis in Cancun will be on presenting solutions and alternatives to the climate crisis.
The OCA delegation, limited to 100 people, will include international experts on organic agriculture and climate justice, including OCA Directors Ronnie Cummins and Alexis Baden-Mayer, organic farm leader and author, Will Allen, and author and food activist Jill Richardson.
We will be hosting two tours:
• 6-Day Tour: November 29th- December 5th, 2010 : Hostel $750, Ramada $950
• 5-Day Tour: December 5th-11th, 2010: Hostel $700, Ramada $900
It is also possible to stay for the entire 11 day even from November 29th through December 11th, 2010
World famous speakers and activists including Vandana Shiva, James Hansen, Bill McKibben, Pat Mooney, and Maude Barlow are expected to make presentations at the Grassroots Summit, which will take place simultaneously with the global negotiations of leaders from every nation in the world.

During the week of teach-ins and protests, November 29th to December 10th, the OCA delegation will be housed in comfortable accommodations in the city of Cancun.
There are two housing options:
Chacmool Hostel,
6-day Tour: $750, 5-day Tour: $700, 11-Day Tour: $1450
The hostel sits directly on the corner of Palapa Park, where all the activities are expected to take place. This is also where the OCA will host all of its conferences, speakers and workshops. Cancun’s most famous taco stand is on the ground level of the hostel, serving up affordable, traditional Mexican food and drinks until 2am.
This is an ideal option for students or those on a tight budget. Rooms and beds are available on a first-come-first served basis and will include dorm style beds, breakfast, welcome dinner, transportation to and from the airport and all speakers and conferences. They also offer economical tours to local attractions.
Ramada Hotel,
6-day Tour: $950, 5-day Tour: $900, 11-Day Tour: $1850
The Ramada is only blocks away from Palapa Park. The hotel has a free shuttle to the beach, fitness center, pool, and restaurant/bar. Rooms can be booked at a double or single occupancy rate and include breakfast, dinner with the delegation at local restaurants, transportation to and from the airport, and all speakers and conferences. Guests at the Ramada are also welcome to book tours through the hostel, which offers affordable rates to all local attractions.

En 1999 y 2003, la Asociación de Consumidores Orgánicos (OCA en inglés)ayudó a organizar protestas y sesiones educativas en contra de la Organización Mundial de Comercio en Seattle y Cancún. Después de lo que llamaron “La Batalla de Seattle” y de las movilizaciones subsecuentes, los movimientos de base empezaron a tener mayor importancia.
Ahora usted tiene la oportunidad de unirse al Director de la OCA, Ronnie Cummins, y a otros miembros de la Asociación en una delegación escoltada para asistir a sesiones educativas históricas y a los mítines para la justicia climática y la agricultura orgánica de la COP16 (Decimosexta Conferencia de las Partes de la Convención Marco de
Naciones Unidas de Cambio Climático) en Cancún.
Se espera que más de 100,000 ciudadanos preocupados de América del Norte y del Sur, Europa, África y Asia se reunirán en Cancún, incluyendo los activistas más influyentes del sector agrícola, de la alimentación, del Comercio Justo, de la justicia climática y en contra de la ingeniería genética. • tour de 5 días: del 5 al 11 de diciembre del 2010. Hostal $700, Ramada $900.
También se puede quedar durante los once días del evento, del 29 de noviembre al 11 de diciembre del 2010.
Se espera que oradores y activistas de fama internacional, tales como Vandana Shiva, James Hansen, Bill McKibben, Pat Mooney y Maude Barlow hagan presentaciones en la cumbre de activistas, la cual tendrá lugar al mismo tiempo que las negociaciones globales de los líderes de cada una de las naciones del mundo.
Durante las semanas de sesiones y protestas, del 29 de noviembre al 11 de diciembre, la delegación de la Via Organcia se alojará en Cómodos hospedajes de la ciudad de Cancún.
Hay dos opciones de hospedaje:

Es una opción ideal para estudiantes y personas con un presupuesto limitado.
Los cuartos y las camas estarán disponibles según el principio “el primero que llega se lo lleva”. Incluye camas tipo residencia, desayuno, cena de bienvenida y transporte de ida y vuelta al aeropuerto y todos los discursos y talleres. El hostal también ofrece tours a atracciones locales.
